February 05 Overdose of FreudWhen you think of Freud, you think of sex. He believes men are motivated by sex. Well, I find the statement true to a certain extent. We need to reproduce what, otherwise homo sapiens will be facing extinction, duh, common sense. Mr. Loo did mention that he was addicted to cocaine and in the end got his jaw removed. Overall, Freud appears to be a screwed up person to me. Was browsing through Freud's 5 stages of psychosexual development yesterday and it never fails to make me laugh when I reached the Anal Stage.. It says that the focus of pleasure in this stage is on the anus and with the expulsion and retention of faeces. If the child poos whenever and wherever he wanted without the parents there to 'control' them, they would develop an anal expulsive character upon reaching adulthood which were deem to be messy, reckless and disorganized. Vice versa, if the child gets pleasure from holding back they'll develop anal retention character--obstinate, careful and precise. And I was wondering, Virgos are often describe as a perfectionist or said to be very demanding and precise in their work. If Freud's theory holds truth in it, meaning we Virgos had adopted the anal retentive character simply because we enjoyed holding back faeces. Lol. What am I thinking? Ohh, not to forget the Oedipus complex where boys were said to have sexual feelings for their mother. Thank goodness that the castration fear is stronger than the sexual desire for their mothers, if not, omg incest la wei.. Again, I don't recall cocaine had the effect of making people a sudden genius that could come out with these sort of ideas.. Freud's theory was one of those that could not be proven nor be refuted. That's what makes him so great until now. Esther and Deirdre was talking about this book yesterday, Lady Chatterley's Lover. ![]() The cover of LCL seems to me the back version of last semester's lit metaphysical poetry. Ahem, should I say nice art work? XD Anyway, that's not the point. The point is, from what I'd gathered from Deirdre, LCL was one of those earliest fiction to use the F word and explicitly wrote about sex. It was a big issue back then using the F word, the book had been banned and sent to court for it's obscenity. The excerpt that Esther read out in the student lounge was cool man. Damn cool. ahaha.. Will definitely read it when I had the time and the book in hand. January 25 Like Mother, Like Daughter? My jaw dropped to the floor when mum came back with these...... -.-lll ![]() ![]() And I thought I was once obsessed with them. My mum was worst. XD In fact, my fever for them was long over. For mum's case, she's not in love with their pretty faces but their sound tracks. and a certain scenes and lines from the drama. That's why all THESE. Mum's fave. Mum says that's true love wor..haha.. That they want nothing more apart from each other. But I prefer, 丝草:“你怎么会在这里?” 但,现在我的身边不能没有你…” and the ending to be like this, January 21 Falling Flat on Reality What's your point of continuing if you're not going to become a teacher? Mum asked. Cant it purely be an interest to learn? I defended. Aunt was right, you should not have given up on your piano. I don't have the patience to practice it. Such a waste. Her silence implied it. For the rest of the journey, the monotonous humming of the engine was the only sound audible, lulling us to retreat to the depths of our thoughts. 73 for my Intermediate Foundation, which leaves me passing with Merit for that grade. Mum feels that it's a pity, for an extra 2 marks will lead me to pass with Distinction. I'm all so grateful with the marks. Hey, you cant really expect much from a person like me who started late right? 73 is great. At least I scored an average of 7 for each section. But then, why it is so that I felt a void in the core? Happy I am not, for I knew that it does not indicate anything. It only means that I'm in good conditions during my exam and perhaps fortune smiles upon me that day. Come on, with stiff posture, poor arches, weak ankles, etc etc.. I'm no good ballerina. I know. *sigh~ January 17 Caught between dreams Finally got the chance to watch Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law is so cute~ Love it so much.. yea yea, I know I was late for it.. Blame it on my exams.. Dad really gets on my nerves with his nagging.. * argh~ It's as if not seeing me holding a book would trigger the 'repeat' button of his nagging.. Gosh~ I always wished that I'd ear plugs with me during those times.. Starting with criminal psychology now.. And two third through Eldest.. Ohh.. Since Mun visited Egypt and I was fascinated by her souvenirs--her scarab bracelet. She said that the locals believe that it brings luck to the bearer. Erm.. What I was interested is, why choose scarab aka dung beetle as an object of luck? I mean, don't they stink? XD ![]() Answer: It represents the god Khepri, a creator and solar deity. The choice of the scarab to portray him due to activities of such a beetle. It was observed to roll its eggs in a ball of dung along the ground, and the ball was identified with the sun. The baby beetles were seen to emerge form the primeval mound, and so dung beetles were thought of capable of spontaneous creation. Based on the Book of the Dead, the amulet was a must funeral amulet that was placed over the heart of the deceased to keep it from confessing sins during the judgment ceremony--The Weighing of the Heart. The inscription on the underside of the scarab says : O my heart which I had upon earth... do not speak against me concerning what I have done... Egypt Gods, Myths and Religion by Lucia Gahlin Hmm.. Imagine the sun as a dung.. hahaha.. eewww~ gross.. XD Egypt, one of the world's greatest civilizations, wonder when am I able to witness it with my own eyes? I'm hoping it to be soon, not soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon.^^ |
